The objective of this project was to design a Logo in black and white for an imagined company or organization while keeping in mind future applications such as collateral, alternate layouts, and use of color.
The process of creating this design started in the sketchbook where ideas were generated via notes and doodles for the 3 imagined companies: "Fading Acres" (a retirement community), "Gelato Palace" (a gelato shop), and "Paws For Care" (a veterinarian). From these notes and doodles 6 rough logo concepts were devised, 2 for each fictional company.
After presenting these concepts to the class and receiving critique 2 of the 6 ideas were chosen to be further refined into 2 intermediate sketches and 1 final hand sketch. In this case I chose to expand upon the concepts for Fading Acres, and Paws for Care.
After another round of critique one of these sketches was chosen to carry into the final stages of the design process as well as into the following projects in this class. The sketch was taken and recreated on the computer where it is again critiqued and revised multiple times over to fix problems with spacing, visual weight, alignment, and form until it was successful.
